Research conducted by academics from the Accent Bias in Britain project has revealed that one in four employees have been mocked, criticised or singled out at work because of their accent. Employees from the north of England were most likely to have experienced such discriminatory behaviour, with four out of ten early careers employees from that region saying they had been mocked, criticised or singled out at work for how they spoke.
